RISE website · Version 2026-10-01

Terms of Use

The rules for using the RISE website, for everyone who makes an account: scholars, mentors, partners, alumni, and visitors.

Who we are

Resilience In Service of Excellence (RISE) is a scholar organization at Morgan State University. RISE is not a university office, and this website is not run by Morgan State University.

By making an account, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, please do not make an account.

Who can have an account

You must be at least 13 years old. Membership in RISE is for Morgan State students and needs a Morgan State email. Mentors, partners, alumni, and friends of RISE may use any email.

Morgan State students who apply also read and accept the six membership agreements. Those agreements add to these Terms; they do not replace them.

Your account

Give your real name and an email you control. One person per account. Keep your password to yourself, and tell RISE right away if you think someone else has used your account.

You are responsible for what happens under your account.

What is not allowed

Harassing, threatening, or discriminating against anyone. Pretending to be someone else. Recording attendance, service hours, or check-ins that did not happen.

Trying to see information your account is not meant to see, sharing another person's information, copying the site's data in bulk, or interfering with how the site works.

Posting or sending spam, scams, or anything harmful.

Money

This website never takes payments and never asks for card or bank details. RISE dues are paid only through the instructions RISE gives members. If anyone asks you to pay through a message or a link that did not come from RISE, do not pay. Report it.

Links to other sites

The Opportunity Board, Resources, and other pages link to sites RISE does not run. RISE checks listings but cannot promise what other sites say or do.

Not an emergency or counseling service

RISE connects scholars with people and campus resources. It is not counseling, medical, legal, or emergency help. In an emergency, call 911.

If these Terms are broken

RISE may limit or close an account that breaks these Terms. For members, the RISE Bylaws and Code of Conduct decide what happens next and how to appeal.

You can ask to close your account at any time by contacting the Director of Communications.

The fine print

The website is offered as it is. RISE works to keep it accurate, safe, and available, but cannot promise it will always be error-free or online. To the extent the law allows, RISE is not responsible for losses that come from using the site.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland.

When these Terms change, the version date changes, and you will be asked to accept the new version.
