Join RISE

A house, an accountability group, a peer mentor, and people who notice when you go quiet.

  • Saves as you go
  • $20 a semester to start
  1. Make your account with your Morgan State email.
  2. Fill out the application. Your answers go to the people who place you, not to other scholars.
  3. We confirm you're enrolled, usually within 3 business days.
  4. Pay dues: $20 a semester for your first two semesters (or $35 for both at once), then $10. Summer and semesters on leave are free. Payment plans are available.
  5. You're in. You're placed in a house, an accountability group, and with a peer mentor.

For professionals and graduate students

Mentor a scholar

Be the person in their field who answers the questions no class covers. Professional mentorship is never graded and has no required check-ins.

  • At least 2 years past graduation, or a grad student with 1 year of professional work
  • About 10 minutes to apply
  1. Make an account with any email.
  2. Fill out the mentor application: your field, your path, and what you'd like to help with.
  3. The Professional Programming Director reviews it and emails you.
  4. Take a short training and a five-question quiz.
  5. Meet your scholar: a Morgan junior or senior headed toward your field.

Questions people ask

Do I have to be a Morgan State student to get involved?

Only to become a member. Anyone can mentor, partner, volunteer, speak, or give.

I'm a Morgan student but not ready to join. What can I do?

Take the values quiz, come to an open event, or browse the Opportunity Board. Apply whenever you're ready.

What does membership cost?

$20 a semester for your first two semesters, or $35 if you pay for both at once, then $10 a semester. Summer and leave semesters are free. If paying on time is hard, ask the Director of Finances about a payment plan. See Dues and refunds.

How much time does mentoring take?

Professional mentoring has no required check-ins. You and your scholar decide how often to talk. Peer mentors (RISE scholars) check in on a set schedule.

Who will contact me, and from where?

The RISE team replies from riseorg.contact@gmail.com. RISE will never ask for a password or for card or bank details by message.

Can my company sponsor something specific?

Yes: an event, a scholarship, supplies for a service day, or something else. Tell us what you have in mind.
