What we collect from everyone with an account
Your name, your email, and your password. Passwords are stored scrambled (hashed), so no one at RISE can read them.
A record of when you accepted these policies.
If you use the Get Involved form
Your name, email, organization, and message, so the RISE team can reply. Messages are kept for one year, then deleted.
What we collect from members
Morgan State students who apply give more: academic information, interests, values and working-style answers, and, as they take part, attendance, service hours, check-ins, and dues status. The Data Use and Privacy Agreement explains all of it in detail, including who can see each part and how long it is kept.
Student ID numbers and support needs are encrypted in the database.
What we do not collect
Card or bank details. Your location: event and meeting check-ins confirm you are nearby without sending your location to RISE.
The concern form can be used without signing in. RISE does not attach your name, account, or network address to an anonymous concern.
Why
To run your account, keep the site secure, run membership, and contact you about RISE.
RISE may share totals that cannot be traced to any person (for example, how many scholars attended events) in reports and grant applications.
Who can see it
Officers see only what their seat needs, and every time an officer opens another person's record, it is logged. Access ends the day an officer leaves the seat.
RISE never sells your information. The companies that host the website (Render) and send its email (Resend) handle it only to run the service. The site's fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives your browser's network address when a page loads.
How long it is kept
Applications that never become a membership are deleted at the end of that academic year. When a member graduates or leaves, the record is reduced to name, graduation year, house, and roles held.
You can ask to close your account at any time.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information by contacting the Director of Communications. RISE will tell you what it can remove, what it must keep, and why.
Keeping it safe
The site uses encrypted connections (https), scrambled passwords, encryption for the most sensitive fields, and access that follows each officer's seat. If RISE learns that information was exposed, the people affected will be told.
People under 18
Accounts are for people 13 and older. If you believe someone younger made an account, tell the Director of Communications and it will be removed.
